This paper investigates the impact of international financial integration (IFI) on economic growth. We adopt a method with a two-stage procedure. After outliers are detected and excluded by reweighted least squares (RLS), we employ extreme bound analysis (EBA) to test the relationship between IFI and economic growth. Using data of 57 countries from 1980 to 2006, we find that IFI can stimulate economic growth. Furthermore, when we divide the 57 countries into three scenarios (i.e. developed countries, developing countries, and emerging markets) the impact of other variables (i.e. initial income, schooling, government balance, inflation, private credit, stock activity, law and order tradition, corruption in government and IMF restriction) can be strengthened through IFI.
