Popis: | 97 This study tries to explore the shapes of mianzi formed by two generations from four dimensions (including morality, ability, guanxi, and collectivism) under the influence of Confucianism from a Social Representation Theory (SRT) perspective. This research adopts an in-depth interview method to collect related information. Results show that mianzi represented by two generations are basiclly similiar to each other. While the older generation tend to presuppose that the younger generation must save the older some face anyhow; the younger generation tend to presuppose that regardless of one’s age and mianzi, one should still be corrected when making mistakes. However, this is considered as worst offence by their superiors, or as leaving no mianzi for their superiors. The conflict between two generations is then aroused. Therefore, the study suggest the older generatiion to understand more about how the younger generation look at mianzi so as to avoid conflicts before they occur. |
