A study of the relation for the diffused audience and internet addiction

Video sharing websites have been becoming more and more popular online service mechanism in recent years. The users of these websites can have two statuses which are viewers and performers. The users might conduct certain “performances” to represent an ideal ego for themselves in order to create an “perfect” and “talented” appearance. In other words, the appearance would have certain level of importance for the users on the internet. This issue leads us to consider people’s social relation in this digital era. This study will discuss the situation of users’ performances and self-complacency on video sharing websites from the viewpoints of the diffused audience and spectacle performance paradigm. Also we will explore the relation between spectacle performance paradigm and internet addiction based on the differential of instrumental uses and ritualized uses. In this phase, we will try to understand:1)the relation of ritualized uses and internet addiction, 2) the influence of users characteristics on internet addiction and 3)the relation between diffused audience and internet addition. This research conducted internet questionnaire to gather data, it was because that would meet our target users who were high involvement to the internet. Descriptive statistic, factor analysis, T-test, regression and one-way ANOVA will be utilized to analyze the data. The result indicates that 1) ritualized users, students and heavy internet users are likely to have internet addiction. 2) the diffused internet user, ritualized users and who has internet addiction have positive effectiveness to one another. 3) the people who have the characteristics of the diffused users are likely to be heavy internet users and to have internet addiction.
