Popis: | 97 Objects:To determine the effects of insertion depth and position of electrodes on phonetic perception by Mandarin-speaking Cochlear implant recipients. Material and methods:Seven patients (3 were female and 4 were male) who were planted with MED-EL cochlear implant engaged in this study. The mean age was 25.5 years old, ranged from 12.88 to 36.43 years old. The mean length of CI experience was 5.25 years, ranged from 1.6 to 10.59 years. Simulation of different insertion depth and position was manipulated by activating or deactivating certain electrodes。Mandarin tone, vowel, and consonant perception task were administrated in 6 experimental conditions for the all participants. Results: There was no significant effect of insertion depth and position on Mandarin tone perception. However, increase of implant depth apparently improved the perception tasks of Mandarin consonant and vowel. For the effects of electrodes position, perception of both consonants and vowels were better in condition that the major electrodes was located in the middle turn than in the apical or basal turns of cochlear. Conclusion:The insertion depth and position of cochlear implant significantly affect the perceptions of Mandarin consonants and vowels other than tone perception. The insertion depth of near whole cochlear length and the insertion position in the middle turn of cochlear can provide better acoustic resolutions for Mandarin-speaking cochlear implanters. |
