A Research on Teachers'Assistance in Regulating the Grief Emotions of the Students

The main purposes of this study include :(1)exploring the various situations that would invoke students' grief emotions in elementary and secondary schools.(2)exploring the guidance principles to help the students when they are suffered in grief emotions.(3)exploring the strategies teachers chould take to help the students regulate their grief emotions. To accomplish the above purposes,a series of hermeneutic circular interviews were employed as the research method.The following conclusions are obtained: (1) The situations of evoking students’ grief emotions can be classified into three categories:the change of the objects of affective-reliance,the deviation of self-expectance,the loss of valuable things. (2)The guidance principles teachers could take to help students can be classified into three categories:directly assisting the students in learning emotional reluation,establishing good relationship with students in order to make up students’ loss in affection,the teachers’learning in emotional guidance. (3)The appropriate strategies of teaching the students how to regulate their grief emotions include:narrative therapy,reading therapy,art therapy,play therapy, role playing,finish the uncompleted things,souvenir,tour of the grave,communication,utilization of religious belief,helping the transference of targets,the utilization of peers. Based on to the previous conclusions,the researher also provides some suggestions for educational administrative institutions,teacher education institutions,teachers,and the research direction in the future.
