With the development of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, RFID is being applied ubiquitously. RFID is an automatic data collection and object tracking technology. There are many readers and tags in an RFID scenario. When a tag is read by a reader, it generates a primitive event based on tag identified by just one reader. The primitive events include very limited semantic information. Through the primitive events, we can only understand some simple information. Using only the primitive event is not enough, because practical applications often require more complex information. For example, a primitive event doesn’t represent the movement of an object. It only represents where the tag is. However, we can combine several primitive events into a complex event to represent the movement of an object. How to find out the complex event from a large number of primitive events is an important issue. Each reader plays a different role in an RFID system. In this thesis, we group the physical readers into virtual readers and classify the primitive events by different virtual readers. Our aim is to reduce the number of invalid comparisons that the complex event generates, and provide better performances.
