Due to the technology updating developments, wireless Internet has gradually entered and become part of our life. The technology advancement makes hardware equipments cheaper and every one affordable to use the Internet wherever and enjoy the value added services by using devices such as cell phones or PDAs through wireless access points or base stations. Nowadays, the issue of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET) has attracted significant attention in academic domains or automobile industries. The goal of VANET is to improve the drivers’ security and the usage rate of roads. VANET application services can make passengers more comfortable and achieve the safety of pedestrians. To achieve these goals, we need better wireless communication quality which in turn is based on stable communication links. However, from many research discussions we found that the VANET is a high dynamic network and the speed of vehicles is very fast. This makes the topology have great changes. Therefore, designing a stable routing protocol for packet communications is a quite challenge. In this thesis, we discuss and introduce the position-based forwarding strategies, and propose a forwarding strategy based on geographic information and vehicle movement information to make position prediction. In the end, we supervise simulation results and proof that our proposed forwarding strategy has a good performance in packet delivery ratio.
