A Study of The Relationship among Parents' Marital Conflict, Social Support and Self-Concept of the Superior in Elementary School

The purpose of the research was to explore parents’ marital conflict, social support and self-concept of the superior in elementary schools. The research method is a questionnaire survey. There are 546 students in Chia-Yi country have been invited to perform this test. Instruments used in this study were parents’ marital conflict scale、social support scale and self-concept scale. All the data have been analyzed through statistical methods, such as t-test, one way analysis of variance, Pearson’s product-moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression. The conclusions of the research were as follows: 1. The superior grade students’ parents’ marital conflict are light. 2. The superior grade students’ self-concept above the intermediate level. 3. The girl’s average score significantly are higher than boy’s in content. 4. The difference of students’ self-concept (1) The boy’s average score significantly are higher than girl’s in physical self and personal self ; the girl’s average score significantly are higher than boy’s in social self. (2) The fifth grade’s average score significantly are higher than sixth in physical self and personal self. (3) In personal self, the first is the best. 5. There is significantly positive correlation between social support and self-concept ; there is significant negative correlation among parents’ marital conflict, social support and self-concept. 6. Parents’ marital conflict and social support can significantly predict student’s self-concept.
