This research is aimed to explore the relationship between participation motivation and participation satisfaction in youth voluntary service. This study is based on data collected from cadets in a military school. Statistical methods, such as canonical correlation analysis, ANOVA and multiple linear regression are used in the data analysis. The main research findings are: 1. The canonical correlation analysis finds that high degree of self-development inclination reflects on participant’s high degree of self-satisfaction. 2. Students participates in voluntary service, by no means are motivated to help others. They are merely driven by the purpose of self-improvement. 3. In the whole, participation motivation has a significant forecast power to the degree of work satisfaction. They are positively correlated. Particularly, the motivation of self-development has the most forecast power to the overall degree of satisfaction. 4. Whether or not parents have experience in voluntary services, influent a great deal to participants’ degree of satisfaction. 5. Regression analysis and canonical correlation analysis showed consistent results. Constructs with weak canonical correlations were indentified, and therefore, were deleted from later regression analysis.
