Popis: | 97 In 1995, the Taiwanese government decided to introduce a National Health Insurance (NHI) system that would cover every citizen. In 2007, the Central Health Bureau adopted the Total Budget System which altered the way the government reimburses hospitals. Globalization, and the technological changes brought by the 21st century have made traditional managing strategies obsolete, or unsuitable to the new circumstances.This has greatly impacted the way hospitals need to be managed. In order to break through the budget limitations, hospitals have to explore new ways to generate revenues from outside the NHI system, and attract patients, at home and abroad, ready to pay themselves for services (Medical Services Internationalization).Since hospitality (food and beverages) and healthcare are both service industries, cross-over collaboration between them is a new method that can be beneficial to the Medical Tourism Industry in Taiwan. Besides, the Execute yuan flagship plan for the Internalization of medical services will also boost medical tourism in Taiwan. This essay was based on quantitative research. First, It was used Michael Porter’s 「Five Forces 」, 「SWOT」, Timmons Entrepreneurship Management Model etc. to analyse the current condition of the Medical Tourism Industry in Taiwan. The study took the Min-Sheng General Hospital as a case study and address it from a doctor’s perspective. Using SWOT and Timmons Entrepreneurship Management Model as tools, to identify the parameters that hospitals should be aware of before joining the Medical Tourism Industry. Finally, sharing the experience of the Joint Commission International Accreditation and outcome of the international healthcare by the Min-Sheng General Hospital. The findings of the research will serve as a reference for the government, and other hospitals looking to increase their revenues through medical tourism. By writing this essay, it aspire to lift the competitiveness of Taiwan’s Medical Tourism Industry, and hope that the government, hospitals, tourism operators, and patients from all over the world will benefit from the research. |
