The Study on the Need Assessment for Junior High School Tutorial Education of Entrance Examination in Tainan City

Popis: | 98 This study aimed at investigating the junior high school students’ parents whose demands of tutorial education for Junior high school entrance examination in Tainan City. The investigation covers the differences of parents from every walk of life on “the demand of goal”, “the demand of cram school type”, “the demand of courses and subjects provided by cram school”, “the demand of teachers and education quality”, and “the demand of education environment and system”. The population of this study were parents of junior high school students in Tainan City. The instrument of this study was “questionnaire of the demand of tutorial school for high school entrance examination in Tainan City” designed by the reacher. And subjects of this study were 1000 parents randomly sampled from the population. The data collected from this investigation was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance. The major findings were listed as follows: 1.Parents of junior high students in Tainan City most expected for the tutorial education of entrance examination were about the teacher quality and cram school environment. They expected teachers were patient and can delivering every detail, humorous and can arouse student’s learning interest, they also expected cram school having clean, comfortable and security environment. 2.There were significant differences between fathers and mothers whose expectations on “the teaching courses and materials given by schools are beyond the parents’ approaches”, “teachers with profound profession and knowledge along with clear expression”, “the selection of chain cram school”, “teachers’ abilities to well control the learning climate”, “with humorous teachers who can arouse students’ learning interests”, “cram school are well known ”, “cram school with clean and comfortable environments”, cram schools with well security and equipments”. 3.There were significant differences among parents, whose kids are of different school grades, on the demands of “active asking from the students for cram school education”, “compensation for the insufficiency of school education”, “the teaching courses and materials given by schools are beyond the parents’ approaches”, and “the cram schools with intensified discipline”. 4.There were significant differences between parents, whose kids take cram school or not, on the demands of “active asking from the students for cram school education”, “the teaching courses and materials given by schools are beyond the parents’ approaches”, “the selection of private tutorial”, “the selection of taking literature and science education cram school”, “cram schools that provide relative learning information through internet”. 5.There were significant differences among parents who live in different areas on the demands of “cram school that provide relative learning information through internet”. 6.There were significant differences among parents with different financial incomes on the demands of “cram school learning schedule and cram school care set-up”, “the teaching courses and materials given by schools are beyond the parents’ approaches”, “the students fail to concentrate on learning at homes due to interference”, “the selection of a small cram school of less than 10 students”, “teachers’ abilities to well control the learning climate”, and “a cram school with good reputation”. 7.There were significant differences among parents with different SES on the demands of “cram school learning schedule and cram school care set-up”, “active asking from the students for cram school education”, “the teaching courses and materials given by schools are beyond the parents’ approaches”, “the students fail to concentrate on learning at homes due to interference”. 8.The subjects on the top list for cram school that parents of junior high school students in Tainan City demand most were Mathematics, followed by English, Physics, Chemistry, and Chinese. According to above-mentioned finding, this study proposed some concrete suggestions for the reference of relative education administrations, tutorial education owners, and future study. |
