The coherence interference of broadband light source generally has a very short coherence length. The coherence length can be used as time gating to acquire the light during a specific interval of time. This provides a way to observe the steps of dynamic propagation of light in a scattering material. In this study, a fiber optics interferometer was built to record such a dynamic phenomenon. The flexibility of optical fiber and its constant length as light guide make it easy to adjust the path lengths in the interferometer. This interferometer requires fewer optical components, and the mechanical structure is more compact. The incident direction of light can be adjusted to record the propagation of light at different viewing angles. A stepping motor is used to automatically and more precisely control the time delay line. The improvement of image processing technique saves a lot of time in recording the time resolved images. This speeds up the measuring time and prevents some unexpected interferences during the long measurement. The images of dynamic propagation of light recorded show more information that can be used to characterize the optical properties of scattering materials. This technique will be helpful in improving the quantification and simulation of scattering light propagation.
