The study aims to examine the effect of health promotion programs on the intervention of weight control and selected biophysiological indicators improvements among participants in a semiconductor plant. According to the physical examination, overweight and high blood lipidemia were the main health problems among the workers. Therefore, two types of intervention programs were administered to deliver health promotion methods for participants in the company. A quasi-experiment study was conducted to recruit participants in health education program (N =32) and weight control program (N =19). The participants in health education program were administered with 1.5-hour course delivering knowledge across health maintenances, weight control, advantages of exercise, and risk factors and prevention of major diseases. The trainees in weight control program received serial instructions for dietary control and regular exercise during six-week period. A control group (N =51) was selected from non-participants demographically similar to the intervention groups. Overall, body weight and body mass index were found to be significantly reduced in intervention groups than that of control group after the same study period of time. The effects of weight loss and body surface measurements changes on biophysiological indicators were examined and found to be synchronized changes particularly on systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, triglyceride, and total cholesterol. The effect was significantly revealed in nonsmoker participants yet failure to prove in smoker participants. This study has demonstrated that health promotion interventions are statistically significant in improving body shapes and the subsequent biophysiological indicators in a confined period of time. However, a long term observation is warranted for future studies. The negative results from smoker participants also give clues for designing multi-portfolio intervention programs in the future. The successful experience from the interventions have also re-enforced the necessity and values of such programs to be extended through the entire industry.
