The Study on Parent-children Relationship, Teacher-Student Relationship and Learning Motivation of the High Grade Elementary Students

Popis: | 96 The purpose of this research was to find out the current situation of parent-children relationship, teacher-student relationship and learning motivation on the senior grade elementary school students, and to compare the differences of students’ background variables. The correlation among parent-children relationship, teacher-student relationship and learning motivation would be also explored in this study. Finally, the research aimed to understand how the background variables, parent-children relationship, and teacher-student relationship affect the learning motivation among these students. The instruments used in the study were Personal Background Inventory, Parent-child Relationship Scale, Teacher-Student Relationship Scale and Learning Motivation Scale. According to various areas high grade schoolchild proportion, the study used cluster sampling and investigated 947 high grade students from public elementary schools in Taipei city in the Academic Year of 2007. The data are analyzed by various methods of statistic analysis including descriptive statistic analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis. The important results are as follows: 1. The elementary school students’ parent-children relationship, teacher-student relationship and learning motivation are above average. 2. The parent-children relationship of the elementary school students shows the differences in grade, gender, family structure and family social-economic status. 3. The teacher-student relationship of the elementary school students shows the differences in grade, gender, family structure and family social-economic status. 4. The learning motivation of the elementary school students shows the differences in grade, gender, family structure and family social-economic status. 5. The significant positive correlation is found among the elementary school students’ parent-children relationship, teacher-student relationship and learning motivation. 6. The parent-children relationship and teacher-student relationship of the elementary school students significantly affect the learning motivation. Based on above findings, the study offers suggestions for parents, teachers and further research respectively. 1. For parents: (1). To know children’s psychological development in different stages and to put the gender equality education in practice (2). To increase the frequency and to strengthen the equality of parent-child interaction (3). To think positive and to give kids more admiration (4). To empathize and respect children and teach them to be responsible (5). To closely communicate with the principles and limitations 2. For teachers: (1). To correct (modify) the method of the gender treatment and make every effort to be equal and fair (2). To adjust the goal of learning according to students’ degree (3). To activate the matters of teaching and connect them with the life (4). To approve specifically and request appositely 3. For further research: (1).
