Beginning with ordinary material drafting, participation book combines graphs, texts, and toys’ concepts to present unique forms of books. Among various types of books, participation books have established their own styles and are highly well-like by readers. The purpose of this investigation is to explore the differences regarding the children’s manipulations on participation books. This study takes directions based on scholars’ interface appraise point; easy to learn, efficient to use, easy to remember, few error, and subjectively pleasing. This investigation integrates both observations and experiments methods to analyze children’s opinions and interests toward the participation books and the quality of the participation books. The investigation includes three major stages. Began with gaining understanding on how children read participation books based on tests and observations. Then participation books were categorized into four categories, Flap Books, Pull-out, Pop-ups, and Panorama, based on 2-D and 3-D considerations. These four categories were then used as the topics in this investigation. After the first investigation on readers’ manipulations, panorama books shown to be the most popular topic. Further investigations were done on panorama books based on the six designed participation books. The results generated form this study revealed that children enjoy participation books with the manipulation methods similar to ordinary books and want directions and explanations depends on the levels of difficulties. Participation books can encourage children’s desire to learn more knowledge. Participation books can not only enlighten children’s creativities and imaginations, but can also develop children’s logical thinking. The more unique, unstable, and inconsistent the participation books are, the more often they tend to mislead the manipulation methods. The participation books with more complex manipulation methods and more unique structures are easier to remember. Children’s preference of participation books varies with ages and genders, but overall, children love participation books with simple story plots and fewer pages. Among all participation books, the 3-D and special designs are most popular; therefore, panorama books are most well-liked by children.
