Technical Development and Performance Evaluation of Asphalt Concrete with Recycled Concrete Aggregate Precoating

Popis: | 96 The study used the pozzolan-cement as the coating of the recycled cement aggregate and made the models with different thickness of coating. Then, several material performance tests on every aggregate type were conducted to make comparisons on the different coating of aggregates and thickness and the recycled cement aggregated without coating to identify their features. Also the study use the best recycled aggregates with best coating material and thickness on different pavements and evaluated their mechanic feature, endurance and pavement performance to identify the feasibility of each application and the ranges to enhance the pavement performance for each aggregate material. According to the results of the study, due to the surface coated with a layer of delicate cement grout, the recycled aggregate precoating can fix the tiny cleavages on the recycled aggregate surface and strengthen the mortars and cements with lower intensity and increase the anti-Sodium Sulfate ability and reduce the attrition. The relative intensity indicators will be promoted but the hydrophile ratio will increase as well. According to the evaluation on mechanics, endurance feature and pavement performance, the best solution is to replace the natural aggregate with the recycled aggregate coating on the SMA and PA pavements. Compared to the solution of taking the recycled cement aggregate as the replacement of natural aggregate, the total performance increased 6.5%~12.5% on SMA pavement and increased 3.8~7.1% on PA pavement. Compared with different recycled aggregate coating materials, the material which can create the best total performance on the pavement is the coating mixed with the fly ash grout. |
