The study focuses on fireproof performance of spandrel structure which is applied to the glass curtain wall. Spandrel structures include spandrel wall fireproof structure and spandrel infill structure that both are the useful applications for the project works. The results of fire insulation, fire integrity and fire stability which are all discussed by the full scaled model fire testing are summarized below. 1. It’s only need to infill 10-cm thickness of mineral fibers(60k) into the layer of fireproof to pass the fire insulation tests by the full scaled model fire testing. This specification of structure can be considered as a minimum criterion for application in the layer fireproof. 2. Due to not have a stable structure of layers for fireproof performance, including soft materials-infilled, collapsing by fallen elements and the effect of the volume of substance-decrease for the burning, the results show the structures of layers for fireproof can not be efficiency. 3. According to the observation of collapsed situation, spandrel wall is more important than spandrel infill structure. When the external layer of wall collapses, the fire stability for the spandrel infill will be affected. Furthermore, the failure of fire insulation and fire integrity will be caused by the new gap in spandrel infill which would be created when the external layer wall deforms its shape. 4. Fireproof materials which are fixed on aluminous structures would be easily collapsed when they are in high-temperature and the aluminum is melted and deformed. The situation will be more obvious especially if fireproof materials use brittleness materials, the silicon boards and gypsum boards. 5. According to the results of observation, the flames are over 90-cm height. The glass without the fireproof performance will be easily broken due to the large ranges of temperature caused, the flames will penetrate through the prevention of the external wall into the interior space then cause a fire damage by burning such inflammable materials like curtains and carpets.
