Enhanced Optical Properties of ZnO nanorods by incorporation of nanostructured materials

Popis: | 96 In this study, we synthesized ZnO nanorods/Ag2O nanoparticles and ZnO nanorods/nanoparticles nanostructures. By using our approaches, we found that the bandgap emission of ZnO nanorods can be greatly enhanced. For the new nanocomposite of ZnO nanorods and Ag2O nanoparticles, the Ag2O nanoparticles can create interface band bending due to the nature of band alignment between ZnO and Ag2O, such that the band gap emission of ZnO nanorods can be greatly enhanced by about 10 times and the defect emission suppressed to the detection limit simultaneously. Quite remarkably, the ratio between the band gap and defect emission can be enhanced by up to 600 times. In chapter 5, we synthesized ZnO nanorods/nanoparticles nanostructures. The ZnO nanoparticles can be regarded as light-absorption media to increase the absorption cross section of excitation light. According to this method, the band gap emission of ZnO nanorods can be enhanced by about 8.5 times. In view of the potential extension to many other semiconductors, our approaches are very useful for creating high efficiency optoelectronic devices. |
