The study of job satisfaction for itinerant teachers of the preschool special education

Popis: | 97 The main purpose of this study aims at investigating the job satisfaction of the preschool special education itinerant teachers, and the the significance of personal backgrounds and work backgrounds. The research tool applied in this study was a self designed questionnaire named as “Job Satisfaction Questionnaire on Preschool Special Education Itinerant Teachers”, which the participants were the 2007 school year preschool special education itinerant teachers located in Taiwan cities and counties located in and out of the island. The study is conducted through research on the returned questionnaires, total of valid questionnaires are 127 and that stands 86% of the response. The data collected was analyzed by frequency distribution, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings are summarized as follows: 1.Overall, preschool special education itinerant teachers were satisfied with their job. 2.The factor that influenced the job satisfaction the most was “personal and interior” than “environmental and exterior”. The satisfaction order from the highest factor to the lowest was as follow: job values, professional skills, interpersonal relationship, further education possibilities, salary and benefits, job description, administration support and working environment. At last, according to the findings of the study, it is recommended that the administration should focus on stating clear rules for preschool special education itinerant teachers thus to improve the working environment situation; also strengthen the administration support system in order to facilitate the communication. For preschool special education itinerant teachers, it is suggested to have adequate and healthy methods to cope with the stress and be positive and active when facing or solving problems. Also, it is important to always acquire new knowledge to improve special education teaching skills. |
