An Analysis of Influential Factors for Occupation Hazard of Terminals in Kaohsiung Port

| Popis: | 96 In the past years, economic growth has given throughput in Kaohsiung port a big leap. Modern equipment in each port facility has improved operations mode and process significantly at the same time. However, incident and accident in Kaohsiung port are not reduced subsequently. Therefore, it is important to realize the risk variables of wharf operations in Kaohsiung port and find out the root causes of severe occupational hazards. The research first focuses on the severe accidents happened in Kaohsiung port between 1992 and 2007 and investigates root causes through statistics data. The result shows that the unsafe behaviors is the major cause, we have also identified 3 major factors to prevent severe occupational hazards through surveys and analyses. First and foremost is to “establish safety culture of working section” then the “educate labors for safe practices at wharves” and “improve management of safety organization at port area” are the second and third factors. Detailed description and analysis have been proposed in the content of this report. |
