As an elementary teacher and class advisor, I conducted this thesis by implementing a series of action strategies through action research, and presented these strategies by way of self-narrative. In the initial stage of my research, I incorporated certain guidance strategy of class practice in order to improve the social relationship of the bottom 5% of the students who lack social interaction among peers. In addition, this research is also utilized to inspect and reflect my teaching methods. I would design suitable guidance activities based on the situation of my class, and attempt to locate problems through observation, reflection, and conversation in order to revise or add to the curriculum design. It is my hope to utilize the cyclic procedure of planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision to mould theory and practice in one, and in turn be able to study the operation mode of this guidance strategy, its influence to students who fell to the last 5% in terms of social interaction among peers, and the interaction changes between students and teachers. In the latter part of this study, self-reflection becomes the central focus. As my perspective change, I rediscovered the pureness, virtue, and beauty of youth, and through this observation I have revived within me the most essential passion and affection of education. For over one year, during the composition process of my thesis, I focused on the bottom 5% of my students, and have tried to help them adapt to the environment, find their strengths, and thus build their self-confidence. I have enough confidence to proclaim that I have reduced students’ action in violating others, that students and teachers can all feel the mutual love and respect, and that they would even actively offer lending hands to those in need. However, I have come to realize the least I have influenced them are in the area of academic performance and learning attitude. As for myself, I have also realized the limits in my pursuit of being a professional, happy, and confident teacher, including being strained by the mainstream value, bias in analyzing facts with certain theories, factors of my own character, and inadequacy of my own professional skills. I have attempted to find possible solutions for my limits within actual teaching situations. In terms of “respect and be close to the inner world of each and every child,” I still have rooms for improvement. But through the support of the discovery strength of the narrative, I will continue to learn, to mature, and to find the meaning and value of my life’s mission.
