Participants in the study were purposive sampled from five counties in central Taiwan. Six hundred and seven-two children from grade one to four were selected from 5 public elementary schools, and 556 mothers were paired sampled when their children were chosen. The research instruments included Gordon’s “Primary Measures of Music Audiation” and ”The Survey of Mothers’ Musical Parenting Attitudes” which was designed by the researcher. Validity and reliability were tested through reliability analysis, t-test, factor analysis and correlation analysis. T-test, ANOVA, Scheffe, Chi-square and correlation were used to analyze data as well as descriptive statistical analysis. Important findings of the study were listed as following: (a) there was no significant difference in musical aptitudes among children from various areas. In other word, children have equal opportunities to learn music even not every city was highly urbanized. (b) Children in different grades had significant differences in musical aptitudes, especial grade one to three. The musical aptitudes of the fourth grade children tended to be stabilized. (c) There was no significant difference in children’s gender, and it was possible due to the current parenting styles and accessible internet. (d) The finding showed there were significant differences in children’s sequence of birth. The musical aptitude of the youngest child was significant higher than the only child at home. According to the literature, the youngest child had better mothers’ parenting experiences, learning stimuli, and modeling, therefore mothers’ parenting attitudes and musical environment were equally important. (e) The children with musical learning experiences after school had significant higher musical aptitudes. It explained that higher the musical learning opportunities could higher their musical aptitudes as well. (f) There was no significant relationship among mothers’ SES, musical parenting attitudes and children’s musical aptitudes. The results indicated the importance of schooling, and teachers should bring music to every child no matter how much potential they have. Recommendations were made to future researchers.
