Popis: | 96 Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), a mosquito-borne flavivirus, contains a single-stranded positive-sense RNA of 10,976 nucleotides (nts) in length. Previous studies in our lab have reported an abundantly accumulation of small RNA (522 nts), representing the highly conserved region of the 3’-untranslated region in JEV-infected cells. To address a possible function of the small RNA in interferon (IFN) induction and signaling pathway, an IFN-responsive cell line, A539 cells, was characterized with JEV acute and persistent infection. JEV replicates and generates small RNA in A549 cells as demonstrated by Northern analysis. JEV persistently-infected A549 cell line was also successfully established. The level of IFN |
