The objective of this study is to develop an automatic egg collecting, recording and marking system to collect breeding information for caged breeders. The iron plates and RFID tags are used to locate the egg position on egg transport conveyor. The position on egg transport is used to identify the relative cage and hen. The photo-interrupter is used to detect the egg on transport conveyor. Due to the interference of foreign materials, such as fur, excrement, etc., the egg detecting device might send the false signal. Another photo-interrupter is added on the egg transport ladder to detect the existence of egg. As the egg collecting system transports eggs, the system will read and record the information of time and position of eggs. And the recorded data is printed on the eggs in the form of 2 D barcode. The collected information will be used to distinguish the excellent performance of laying hens. The developed automatic system can be used to enhance the information collection function of laying performance, and significantly to reduce the labor cost to produce the record of laying practice.
