Research on the Relationship between Promotional Fairness Recognition and Organizational Commitment of Civil Servants in Taichung City Government

Popis: | 96 “Encouragement” and “Self-fulfillment” are the focal points in the studies of psychology. In the government, “promotion” is an efficient way to encourage staffs, and it will affect the government officers on whether they are willing to devote themselves to their work. Therefore, the fairness of the process during the promotion might have influence on the thought of the officers. The study aimed to explore the relationship between the promotional fairness recognition and organizational commitment of the civil servants in Taichung City Government. The variables were promotional fairness recognition and organizational commitment. Promotional fairness recognition included distributive justice, procedural justice and interactional justice, while organizational commitment contained value commitment, effort commitment and retention commitment. The results and findings are as follows: 1. The subjects in this study tended to identify with recognition of promotional fairness. 2. The subjects in this study tended to identify with organizational commitment. 3. With respect to organizational commitment, significant differences were found as ages, qualifications, categories of civil servants and seniority were concerned. Besides, there were significant differences between positions and three variables, which were value commitment, effort commitment and organizational commitment. 4. Recognition of promotional fairness and organizational commitment were positively correlated. 5. With regard to the predictability which recognition of promotional fairness had on organizational commitment, “interactional justice” was more predictable than “procedural justice”. |
