A Study of the Practice of Elementary and Junior High Schools Principal Selection System in Matsu Area

| Popis: | 96 This research was conducted by questionnaire and semi-structured interviews to find out what will be the appropriate ways for selecting the principals for elementary school and junior high school in Lian Jiang County. Al l of the principals, school teachers as administrators or not, educational administrators and commissioners of PTA（Parental Association）in Matsu area were the respondents of this study. Among the surveyed personals only commissioners of PTA were surveyed by purposive sampling. 180 questionnaires were sent to the respondents and 166 copies of them were usable. Frequency-distribution and percentile ranking were used to analyze the data of the survey. The findings were as the fellows. I. The way of a principal selection Professional abilities of candidate principals can be used as indicators for principal selection. II. The organization of principal selection A. The best way to elect the representatives of PTA will be electing by the parents of each school. B. The best way to elect the representatives of teachers will be electing by the teachers of each school. C. The best way to elect the experts and scholars will be recommended by teacher association. D. The best way to elect the representatives of education administrators will be. recommended by teacher association. III. The process of a principal selection A. There should be an objective and justice evaluation system before the practice of principal selection. B. There should be an exactitude and standardized procedures of interview during principal selection. C. An overall review of the process of the selection after the principal selection will be the item be prepared. IV. The results of a principal selection There are many results of principal selection. Raising principals active attitude of running schools should be one of them. V. The influences of principal selection There are many negative influences of principal selection. Political interfering should be one of them. VI. Supplementary treatments of a principal selection Principals returning to schools as teachers and transferring to other positions should be the supplementary treatments. According to the conclusions narrated above, suggestions are offered to Lian Jian County Government as the references to put principal selection into practice. |
