The relative motion between a video camera and the three-dimensional scene produces an apparent motion in image plane which is named optical flow. It was indicated that estimation of the optical flow by global optimization approaches might not give correct results. The purpose of this thesis is to develop an optical flow estimation scheme based on image contours. We first detect high curvature points and partition them into corners and occluding junctions. Only optical flow estimated at corners is correct and is preserved for further process. A novel method is implemented to propagate the correct optical flow along the contours. Experimental results showed the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
