Road construction matters to integrative development of a nation Roads to a nation are like arteries to a body Their importance is apparent without a doubt Since landing on Taiwan soil, the government has been place great emphasis on public road construction. Because of the popularity of road construction, it brings up flourishing national economical development and further enhances citizens’ living standard and quality. This demonstrates that saying of “Roads are the arteries of economical development” is the truth. At present, domestic road construction adopts asphaltic concrete for pavements. Regardless of use of materials, designing methods and construction equipment, they all become more improved as advancement of technology. However, when comparing our pavement damage condition and domestic road quality standards with other advanced developed countries, a wide gap can be detected, which also means that there is a room for improvements to be made. After observations, it is found that many damage cases occurred on current national highways and many responses filed by public of phenomena such as holes on a pavement surface, irregularity, jumpy when driving on the road and water accumulation. In addition, I also experience above issues on patrol and believe that it is necessary to explore the damage conditions occurred on pavements. The study attempted to study and discuss with moisture damage on pavements on National Road No. 3 at 110K+703~118K+263 drive ways, and use the data obtained by investigations to analyze cause of pavement damage. It is expected to: 1. Discuss quality of material for asphaltic concrete construction and appropriateness of the incorporated design. 2. Asphaltic concrete pavement construction. 3. For effects of moisture intruding asphaltic comcrete pavement overlay,discuss causes for pavement damage from aspects of“construction“, “environment“and material KeyWords:Watew Damage、Pavement、Pit、Accumulate wate、Go car flutter。
