A Study on Present Situation and Needs of the Identification by the Psychological- Assessment Teachers of Special Education in Taipei County

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the present development and demand of identification executed by Psychological-assessment teachers of special education in Taipei County. A self-developed questionnaire was used to collect data. The subjects of the study are Psychological-assessment teachers of preschool, elementary school and junior high school in Taipei County. 306 copies of valid questionnaires were retrieved. The obtained data were analyzed by frequency distribution, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA. The main findings were summarized as follows: 1.The Psychological-assessment teachers in Taipei County have low level satisfaction about current identification 2.The Psychological-assessment teachers in Taipei County have a high level requirement about the demand of identification 3.The Psychological-assessment teachers in Taipei County have a middle level about identification in recognizing level、data searching and collectin、 administrators, teachers and Parents about identification. 4.The Psychological-assessment teachers in Taipei County have low level satisfaction about working hours about identification、the examination tool of identification、the reward about identification. 5.The Psychological-assessment teachers in Taipei County with different sex, educational level and teaching position background have not significant difference. 6.The Psychological-assessment teachers in Taipei County with different age, Psychological-assessment seniority and teaching stage background have significant difference. 7.The Psychological-assessment teachers in Taipei County encounter 10 difficult items about present identification as following: effecting original job, unbalance of human resource,trouble of examination tool, trouble of case assignment, time limitation, insufficient of associated seminar, disunion of placement standard, policy variation of Committee of Identification and Placement, disunion of disability manual and special education membership and uneasy to contact Parents. 8.The Psychological-assessment teachers in Taipei County wish to improve or enhance 7 areas about present identification as following: Enhancement of aspiration of Psychological-assessment teachers Betterment of Psychological assessment system, simplification of computer network,Enhancement of cooperation with professional medical personnel Promotion of quality and enthusiasm of regional Psychological-assessment teachers,increase of reward,enhancement of Parents’administrative concept Further discussion was made on the basis of the previous findings, and suggestions on the administrational agency, Psychological- assessment teachers of special education and future research were offered
