Popis: | 95 Due to the trend of financial liberalization and internationalization, the banking industry has been actively engaged in developing various businesses, including the traditional credit services, securities, foreign exchange, and various kinds of financial derivatives. Based on the need for financial manipulation and motivation for tax evasion, financial derivatives have become a niche business for the banking industry and also grown at a rapid speed. According to related statistics, a large growth of financial derivatives has been observed in recent years. Under an increasing demand for international financial transactions and the growing complication of financial products, risk management has become more important for all the banks. In the future, the integration of the foreground, mid-ground, and background risk management systems would be an inevitable trend. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the risk management in the banking industry. First of all, types and risks of financial derivatives as well as the current trading situations were introduced in Chapter 2. Besides, the impact of the New Basel Accord (Basel II) on the domestic auditing system was also investigated. Chapter 3 discussed related issues about information systems for risk management, including system structure, functions, establishment of database, risk management structures, and system control mechanisms. In Chapter 4, the major risk management systems currently adopted by international financial institutions and the foreground/background application systems for derivatives transactions would be introduced to explain the functions and features required for risk management systems. Moreover, this study also used Kondor+ as an example and introduced its functions and features. In Chapter 5, for a better understanding of the management models in the industry and the effect of operating systems for financial derivatives, case and data collection was applied to investigate the 3 perspectives, including the structure of risk management for financial derivatives, internal control of transactions, and disclosure of related information. The recent research reports released by IBM were also used to compare the maturity of risk management among the financial industries in Asia. In the conclusion, from the viewpoint of a risk control manager, the researcher used Kondor+ risk management system to explain the assessment of risk management systems, in hope of providing some practical references for financial service providers who plan to construct a comprehensive risk management system. In addition to the limitations in this study, suggestions for follow-up studies were also proposed. Keywords: financial derivatives, risk control and management, information system |
