The contents of abstract in this thesis: This thesis is aimed to develop an on-line power management optimization strategy for hybrid powered scooter based on the simplex method. The first part of the thesis is to develop a Matlab/Simulink code to simulate the dynamics of the studied scooter. Then, a simplex method based optimization method is created to determine the optimal power output ratio among the internal combustion engine, DC hub motor, and 750w generation, according to instantaneous operation conditions. The designed method is evaluated by numerical simulation as well as experiment. The second part of the thesis is to construct a Hardware-in-the-Loop(HIL) system for the hybrid scooter device. The system includes a 125cc fuel injection internal combustion engine, a 900W hub motor to provide a low power assistance power, and a 750W generator. The developed HIL system not only has the advantages of low cost and compact structure, but also has real-time data recording system for the evaluation of the performance of the energy management system.
