Education Research and Public Issues –An example for The Multiple Enrollment Programs for General and Vocational High School

| Popis: | 95 There are many opportunities for people to get involved with educational activities in today’s diverse society. Due to the differences between people’s values and opinions, it is very common to see people bring forth public issues that affect their lives. This research focus on multiple enrollment programs for general and vocational high school. It also studies the progress and the affects from educational research when Ministry of Education administers the multiple enrollment programs. Furthermore, this study takes the next step to discover the correlation between educational research and public issues. This study uses the methods of Content Analysis and Interview, and gathers newspapers, journal articles, and project reports. Additionally, using these different resources to classify into categories, it helps the study has better understanding of the public’s interests and issues; issues like whether or not if the educational research have direct correlation. This study finds there are six public issues in Multiple Enrollment Programs: the entrance examination stress, the equality of entrance, the scale score and class interval, grades in school, the fever of cram school, the exam item and mode. The respondent results from educational research weren’t sufficient in detail and quantity. The following are the reasons: 1. Professional performance won’t be effect by fewer concentrated on educational researches. 2. It’s always more difficult to solve those public issues that are been around for some times already. 3. Lack of information and researches. 4. Academic researches tend to concentrate more on scientific fields. 5. The diversification of educational study results in the lack of the research population. Educational researches tend to be more concentrated on the topics of the execution and formulation of policy and student’s learning performance. The reasons for that are as follows: 1. The research topics are specific. 2. The relate information is easy to find and study. 3. Many researchers are already in this field. The study finds that the willingness of the researcher to research public issues depends on the relative ease and availability of research materials, whether it can be clearer or to get the solution by individual, and whether the research population is enough. Many academics have issues with multiple enrollment programs for general and vocational high school, but only a few addresses the issues or provide solutions. Educational research has the responsibility to make the relevant discussion and the response of public’s issues, because educational research always has positive effect towards to public issues. At least, by these educational researches, it can help people clarify the education issues and realize the correct information in educational activities. Keywords |
