After the bubble economy, the whole world has fallen into the depression with fewer and fewer resources available. Achieving profit maximization with limited resources constraints has become the competitive advantage of enterprises. At the time being, Toyota Motor Corp. still grows as before regardless of the downside of the economy. Not only its profits surpassed the Big Three in U.S., but also its business model played as the benchmarking of the industry, especially the unique managerial concept of diminishing waste-”Lean Production,” which has attracted the attention of the manufacturing world into discussion and learning. Facing the severe competitive environment in the global market, every manufacturer has to try their best efforts to find a way to sustain its competitive advantage. Lean production is one of the activities recommended by contemporary industries in the world. As one of the best management solutions, it enables corporation to reduce waste, decrease cost, improve productivity, enhance quality, and increase efficient and efficiency. “Lean Thinking” is a rational production system which mainly consists of two core concepts: 1. seek total quality control and achieve the prefect, 2. eliminate waste, create truly value and wealth. It’s a kind of continuous production processes that connect previous and next processes in sequence. This thesis describes how the “Lean Production System” was applied and the extents of improvement results such as productivity increases, production lead time reduction and WIP reduction have been achieved after the system being successfully implemented in the case study company.
