The study of the relationships between learning approaches and transfer of training in a state-run company. Advisor: Hu Meng-Ching Researcher: Chang I-Ching Abstract The purpose of this study is to inquiry the relationships between learning approaches in training courses field and transfer of training in a state-run company. The samples were employees who participated the state-run company’s training courses. To accomplish study’s purpose, survey method was used to collect data in four training centers’ participators. The scale is “The relationships between learning approaches in training courses field and transfer of training questionnaire” which contained with good validity and reliability. 387 questionnaires were received after sending 600 questionnaires and the return rate was 64.5%. The data were collected and then analyzed by SPSS 10. The findings of the study are as follows: 1. Surface, Deep and Strategic approaches were all preferred by all participators but the most preferred was Deep approach. 2. The factors that affected participators’ preferences among learning approaches included age and employed time. 3. Participators were positive toward the effectiveness of training courses and the reaction of training was most valued. 4. The factors that affected participators’ transfer of training included age and employed time. 5. There is positive correlation between “learning approaches” in training courses field and “transfer of training”. 6. Strategic approach is a key variation in participators’ preferences among learning approaches and it can explain 44.1% of total variation of transfer of training. Based on the outcome of the study, we have made the following recommendations: 1. Suggestions for training course’s design a. Training design should include systematic evaluation in advance and feedback after courses. b. Training design and courses arrangement should provoke participator’s learning motive. c. Training design and courses arrangement should consider participator’s age and employed time. 2. Suggestions for instruction and instructor a. Instruction should encourage participator’s participation. b. Instruction should emphasize the sharing between participator’s experiences and professions. c. Instruction should maintain participator’s interest. 3. Suggestions for further research a. Select participators from a wide variety of corporations as respondents. Respondents could include participator’s instructor, colleague and superior. b. In addition to the survey, adopt other methods like interviews, observation and practical experiments. c.
