Popis: | 94 Recent economic and political developments in Taiwan and Mainland have attracted many Taiwanese firms to list their stocks in Hong Kong. Sensing this adverse trend, Taiwanese government is trying to devise initiatives to increase Taiwanese firms’ listing in Taiwan. Since Mainland became a member of WTO in 2001, it has become the world’s manufacturing and financial powerhouse. In order to take advantage in this growing markets, Taiwanese firms have to access to a larger capital markets and able to invest in Mainland. This study examines the pros and cons of listing in Taiwan versus in Hong Kong for the purpose of providing guidelines for Taiwanese firms in deciding where to list their stocks. The major conclusion of this study is that restrictions imposed by Taiwanese government on Taiwanese firms’ investment in Mainland have driven many Taiwanese firms to choose Hong Kong to list their stocks because of increased investments in Mainland. The advantages of Taiwan’s capital markets include proper regulations, low costs of listing and high turnover, Twiwanese government can attract firms to list in Taiwan by relaxing restrictions on investing in Mainland. |
