An application of Regression analysis to annual budget planning ----- a case study on component parts and consumables of a unit of Ministry of defense

| Popis: | 94 The lack of forecasting systems is the main reason why most national defense units can not effectively project their budget plan. In this thesis, we are in an attempt to apply the multiple regression analysis method to improve the accuracy regarding the required budget for component parts and consumables. Several variables that may have close relationship to the budget are discussed first, and then some regression models are developed and experimented. Historical expenditure records for component parts and consumables of a selected defense unit were collected as our training data set, including a total of 48 monthly data within years of 2001 and 2004. We further use actual records of year 2005 as our test data set. Experimental results demonstrate that the application of multiple regression analysis in the budget planning can effectively enhance the budgeting accuracy in contrast to the currently experience-based guessing approach. |
