Popis: | 94 The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact property of table tennis blade made by different materials. Table tennis is a sport that involves the striking of the ball with a racket. The construction and compound materials of the blades varies greatly, amateur as well as professional players often select their blade base on information given by friends and colleagues. However, these information often lack of the scientific basis, thus, would be unable to quantify. This study investigates the impact property of the table tennis blade made by three types of materials; wood, glass fiber and carbon. Nature frequencies of the blades were acquired by accelerometer while ping-pong balls were projected by serving machine. This information is then compared to both the hold time of the blade and the COR (coefficient of restitution). The serves machine serves different velocity balls hit the blades, ensuring a fair and complete data for analysis. By analyzing the correlation between the 2 sets of data, the experimenters could further interpret and find suitable actions relating to the blade. The result of the experiment shows that different materials have different natural frequencies; carbon blade is the highest while glass fiber and wood are lower. The result also shows a positive correlation between natural frequencies and COR, but a negative correlation between natural frequency and hold time. However, upon adding the rubber pad onto the blade, the correlation between natural frequency and COR became negative. In conclusion, in the future, a chart could be made that help player to choose a blade base on their level of playing and style. |
