Popis: | 94 The purpose of this study is to investigate the ways that 4th to 6th graders with learning disabilities (LD) are bullied, and the strategies they use in coping with bullying. Data were collected by conducting surveys and were analyzed by using t-test and One-way ANOVA. Results show that LD students most frequently suffer from verbal bullies. Variables of gender, daily spending money, academic performance, recess status, and resource room eligibility are found related to verbal bullies. Girls are frequent victims than boys. Students having pocket money and those who are occasionally invited during recess tend to suffer teasing, mocking, or harsh language. Students who attend resource room are more likely to be verbally threatened than those who are not. With regard to coping strategies, boys tend to use “run-away,” “seek resources,” “close down oneself,” or to yield self-condemnation and worries. Fourth graders often close themselves down than older kids. Students who fall alone during recess would actively seek resources. Those who receive resource room services are more likely to “ignore,” “run away,” and “bully weaker students.” Finally, suggestions for educators and future studies are provided. |
