Popis: | 94 Is the intelligent world a feeling or a thought? Does it refer to “content” or “emotion”? The reason why I name it “intelligent world” as the subject of this study is that I want to discuss Wang Jinggong’s thoughts and emotions. According to the Chinese Dictionary published by the Ministry of Education, R.O.C., “intelligent world” are the inherent wisdom, thoughts, and emotions of human beings. Mind is the subject that controls consciousness while poetry is the presenting of the process of how the subject controls and dominates consciousness. In other words, the various dimensions of human mind and the voices of the mankind can be emerged and reflected from poetry. Thus, the aim of this study is to show the thoughts and emotions reside deeply in Wang Jinggong’s mind through the way of analyzing Wang’s poetry and life and of discussing the historical background of his time. This study starts from “Wang Jing Gong Poetry,” with the help of historical background digesting, bring up the discussion of Wang from the poetry, and then discuss the poetry from the poetry itself. At first, this study performs a discussion on the imitations, images, and languages used and adopted in Wang’s poetry. Secondly, it will observe how Wang changed mentally and emotionally under the influences of political disturbances and social experiences. Finally, through the analyzing and interpreting of the poetry, conclude a suitable and reasonable interpretation from the analyzed dimensions of Wang’s mind. The research mainly stresses on the period of Wang’s middle-late life, begins with his poetic paradigm, analyzes his mind emerged and showed on the poetry, and, finally, confirms his primordial images. Hence, the poet’s poetic writing skill is also as important as one of the main subjects concerned in this study. Chapter One briefly expresses the research method used in this study, and also reviews the present studies on the related topics of Wang Jinggong’s poetry. Chapter Two shortly talks about Wang’s life experiments and backgrounds in terms of three periods: young adult, prime adult, and the old age. The development of personality is closely relating to the historical background of the times; therefore, this part will stress on the Wang’s idiosyncrasies and characteristics, especially those of his old age. During the changing of releasing himself from the power of authority, Wang seemed to have a great transformation mentally and psychologically. Hence the main points of this chapter are the descriptions of Wang’s life in these three periods, aiming to have a better understanding for discussion and analysis of later chapters. Chapter Three discusses Wang’s poetic imitations, namely, his being influenced by Du Fu and Han Yu’s poetic writings. The poetic writing of Song Dynasty inherited from Tang Dynasty, therefore, Wang’s creative skills and attitudes on writing are by all means partially indebted from Tang’s poetic style. With Tang poets such as Du fu and Han Yu’s impacts, Wang gradually developed his own style and it is in this way of reflecting and learning from the writers of previous epoch, he found his advantages and shortcomings on writing and then reviewed and improved his own writing techniques. Chapter Four begins with the imagery effects of the poetry. Talking of the intelligent world of poetry, we have to analyze the diction and wording, which are parts of Wang’s expansion of his mind. The examples analyzed here are the images of flowers, which draw conclusions of the variety of Wang’s inner world by discussing his symbolical using of flower, plum flower, apricot flower and peach blossom. Different figurative using of the flowers not only show Wang’s elaboration of writing, but also emerge what he feels in his midlife and late life expressed in each poem, implying the poet’s emotions and thoughts. Chapter Five talks about the poetic language of the poetry, which also is a part of Wang’s intelligent world. By inducing the linguistic patterns and analyzing what kind of emotional expression the language means, this study concludes two major models of language pattern Wang used, showing his bitterness of isolating himself from the outside world and his self-enjoyment in such bitterness. In the conclusion, after all, this study is aiming to present Wang’s intelligent world completely and to prove that Wang did not take poetry as a tool of political agenda but, through the way of poetic creation, regard it as a kind of expression of his personal emotions and thoughts. |
