The effect of scheming recycled-water pipes in water treatment- A study conducted in a new agricultural experimental field

| Popis: | 94 Nowadays, the technique of water saving, particularly the reuse of water (recycled water) has become a concern because of the shortage of water. Water reuse, which means the use of recycled water, is attracting considerable attention recently. Before, the use of recycled water focused on the aspects such as industry and civil use that high water qualities were demanded. However, because the problem of water shortage is getting worse, this situation has been changed. The agricultural irrigation water has to adopt the technique as well to keep the operation of agriculture. This study was conducted at a new agricultural reforming field in Tainan, Taiwan. Five sampling sites were chosen for the examination of water quality in a 7 hectares experimental farmland to detect the residual contaminants in the scheming recycled-water pipes under normal agricultural operation and then discussed the efficiency of the scheming recycled-water pipes and the feasibility of recycled agricultural irrigation water. The examining items included water temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), PH value, electric conductivity (EC), turbidity, total suspended solids (TSS), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), NO3-N, NO2-N, NH4-N, and PO4-P etc. Results of this study showed that 13 examining items did not exceed effluent standards or irrigation standards in this study because of the less frequency of land use in this new agricultural field compared to the civil use. Therefore, in light of the principle of absorption-saturation decomposition)-discharge, the use of this new agricultural experimental field is not overloaded based on the results obtaining after the agricultural activity of manuring and the residuals coming from plant decomposition taking place in this new agricultural experimental field. Therefore, the use of scheming recycled-water pipes applying on the reuse of agricultural recycled water in this agricultural reforming field in Tainan County actually satisfies the necessity of experimental design and functions thoroughly. It also provides the possibility of consultation and popularization when applying in other agricultural experimental fields under similar conditions. |
