Synthesis and Characterization of Organic Phosphorescent Materials and Fluorescent Materials, and It's Application on Organic Light-Emitting Diode

This dissertation is about the synthesis and characterization of phosphorescent materials and fluorescent materials. There are three parts in this dissertation. The first one is about phosphorescent materials of iridium complex with six-membered ring framework, second one is about fluorescent materials of fluoro-substituted diphenylamino-di(styryl)biphenyl and third one is about fluororescent materials with triarylamine framework. Part 1: Palladium catalyst coupling reaction was applied to synthesize cyclometaled ligands and series of cyclometaled iridium complexes with six-membered ring framework were synthesized from the ligands using iridium trichloride and acetyl acetone. Various properties including UV-Vis, PL, solution quantum efficiency, cyclic voltammetry, X-ray crystalline diffraction, theoretical simulation and device performance were studied. These results show distinct properties comparing to iridium complexes with five-membered ring framework. Part 2: Wittig reaction and double Heck reaction were applied to synthesize a series of fluoro-substituted diphenylamino-di(styryl)biphenyl fluorescent materials. Various properties including UV-Vis, PL, solution quantum efficiency, cyclic voltammetry, X-ray crystalline diffraction, theoretical simulation and device performance were studied. The performance of these blue devices have much potential to commercialize. Part 3: Palladium catalyst coupling reaction was applied to synthesize a series of fluorescent materials with triarylamine backbone containing pyrene. Various properties including UV-Vis, PL and solution quantum efficiency were studied.
