A research to study the freightage strategy of the internationalexpress industry under a situation of the high oil price

| Popis: | 94 The price of the international crude oil has been raised since the eruption of the 2nd gulf war in 2003. The expensive oil price has directly inflicted the transportation industry, especially the international express industry. Therefore, the fuel surcharge has become a part of the bill since the end of 2003. After the end of the 2nd gulf war, the price of crude oil has been unexpectedly raising to USD$70; meanwhile, the 15% extra cost of the fuel surcharge has brought the customers’ additional attentions. The upper managers of the international express industry have been aware of this unusual situation and they are attempting to find the solvable methods. Firstly, they need to determine the key factors having direct correlation with the price of crude oil, and then speculate the priority to choose the proper alternatives. In this research, the ANP (Analytic Network Process) is introduced to assist the upper managers to make a right decision to solve the complicated strategy matters. The criteria and elements are determined by literature collection. The definition of the interrelation within the elements and the feedback of the criteria are decided through the first questionnaire survey. The second questionnaire survey is summarized by five experts’ feedbacks and injected into the Super Decisions, the software of ANP used to proceed the complex calculations and find out the proper alternatives, to carry out the final result. |
