A Study on Curriculum Decision Making of Physical Education Teachers in Elementary School

The purpose of this study was to explore the contents of curriculum decision making, participation intention, the way of decision making, and the affected factors about for physical education teachers of elementary school; using sex, professional background, the length of service years, teaching grade function of office and participation study as background variables to understand the variations of Curriculum Decision Making of Physical Education Teachers in Elementary School. Through the study path focusing on both quality and quantity, it’s to adopt questionnaire of “Curriculum Decision Making of Physical Education Teachers in Elementary School” as study tool, in which include four sub-scales as “the content of curriculum decision making”, “the participation intention of curriculum decision making”, “the way of curriculum decision making”, “the affected factors of curriculum decision making” to carry out the national investigation; and sample 1,000 physical education teachers of elementary school at random that 807 valid samples were obtained; such descriptive statistics as means, standard deviation, and frequency distribution etc. and independent sample ANOVA, as well as the posterior comparisons (Scheffe’s) statistics are used in this study. In addition, coordinating with participation observation, individual interview, focus group interviewing, and document analysis to carry out the information intersection analysis and verification assumption. The study result was obtained as follows: (1) as for the contents of Curriculum Decision Making of Physical Education Teachers in Elementary School, tends to the level of up average, taking the decision of contents as principal, and there was obvious deviations in different background variables. (2) As for the participation intention of Curriculum Decision Making of Physical Education Teachers in Elementary School, tends to near average level, taking participation intention of classroom level as principal, and there are obvious deviations in different variables. (3) As for way of Curriculum Decision Making of Physical Education Teachers in Elementary School, tends to the level of up average, taking individual thinking as the way of decision making as principal, however, there were obvious deviations in variables, except in the length of service years and teaching grade. (4) As for the affected factors of Curriculum Decision Making of Physical Education Teachers in Elementary School, tends to up average level, taking the aspect of school situation as principal; among 19 affected factors, the safety of sport was most concerned, and there were obvious deviations of different backgrounds. Finally, suggestions were raised in order to facilitate further study and promotion for reference to Curriculum Decision Making of Physical Education Teachers in Elementary School.
