The purpose of the paper was to investigate the manufacturing processes for the electrochemical slot milling of SUS 304 stainless steel. The effect of the electrolyte composition, the current density, and the electrolyte temperature on the geometrical slot accuracy, the material removal rate, and surface characteristics was studied. Design and equipments of the Electrochemical Slot Milling of SUS 304 Stainless Steel were established and the related techniques of the fabrication processes were also developed. The experimental results showed that when a lower current density and NaNO3 electrolyte during the electrochemical slot milling of SUS 304 stainless steel were used, causing a better geometrical slot accuracy was obtained, but a lower material removal rate and a poor workpiece surface roughness. Conversely, using a larger current density could increase the material removal rate and improve the surface roughness. In addition, when a lower concentration of electrolyte and a higher electrolyte temperature were employed, the better geometrical slot accuracy was produced, but a lower material removal rate and a poor surface roughness.
