An Investigation on the Factors Affecting the Usage of School Free Software

The goal of the study was to investigate the current situation of the application of SFS in the elementary schools in Changhua County. The Technology Acceptance Model was employed as the analytical framework explaining SFS’s usage. The superior influence, peer influence, and computer self-efficacy were included as the external variables of TAM. Subjects of the research were elementary school teachers who use SFS in Changhua County. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Structural Equation Model were used to analyze the data. The results are as follows: 1. Significant differences in peer influence, computer self-efficacy, perceived usefulness, and affective attitude are found between the teachers of opposite sexes. 2. Significant differences in all variables are found among the teachers with varied gender roles. 3. Peer influence and perceived ease of use have positive impacts on perceived usefulness. 4. Superior influence and computer self-efficacy have positive impacts on perceived ease of use. 5. Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use have positive impacts on cognitive attitude. 6. Perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and cognitive attitude have positive impacts on affective attitude. 7. Perceived usefulness, cognitive attitude, and affective attitude have positive impacts on use. Implications for further investigations and applications were discussed.
