Two-stage, Single-period Ordering Model under Reordering Quantity Constraints

As the market competition was more violent, “Quick Response” system and collaboration made suppliers to increase their capacity and quality of products. In the traditional “newsboy” problem, retailers who face the uncertain demand only can order products once – for the beginning of the period (“season”). Now retailers can have a reorder chance to decrease their profit loss from the demand of uncertainty because of the better supply ability. Those researches of single-period with reorder opportunity did not focus on reordering quantity constraints. We try to build a single-period dynamic model that has two stage ordering opportunities with reordering quantity constraints and demand forecast updating. Finding out the two optimal inventory level that make retailers’ expectative profit maximum. There are three observations in this paper: (i) The expected profit of reordering quantity constraints model is fewer than no quantity constraints’ one; (ii) Initial order quantities will decrease slightly when reordering quantity constraints increase; and (iii) When we increase the value of reordering quantity constraints, we can find a maximum profit .
