The sliding mode control (SMC) offers insensitivity to parameter variations and external load disturbances. In general, the upper bound of parameter variation and external disturbances is known and the sign function is used in sliding mode control. This may cause high frequency chattering and high gain phenomena. The sliding mode control has a steady-state error when the practical uncertainty is larger than the design uncertainty upper bound or the sign function is replaced by using boundary layer. In order to overcome the high gain frequency chattering and high gain phenomena or steady-state error, we use the sliding mode control with fuzzy control and grey prediction. These enhance the robust of sliding mode control, and reduce high frequency chattering and high gain phenomena. Finally, the validity of the proposed method is confirmed by using the experience of magnetic ball suspension system (MBSS).
