Popis: | 93 With implementation of Montreal Protocol and Kyoto Protocol, environmental protection is increasingly recognized by many countries of the world. Those countries make every endeavor to get environmental protection issues moving forward. One of the key activities to deal with global warming is to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. The current alternative refrigerant R-134a is also one of six greenhouse gases. It expected that R-134a will be restrained or banned in the near future. This dissertation is to study performance of home refrigerator after conversion from R-134a to hydrocarbon refrigerant (R-600a / R-290 blend, 50/50 mixture by weight). Experimental data are analyzed for different refrigeration loads with various refrigerant charges. Comparison of refrigeration performance is conducted when it is charged with hydrocarbon refrigerant vs. R-134a. A refrigerator with 440 L capacity is used as a testing facility. All elements of the refrigerator and refrigeration oil are not changed during the whole experiment process. Experimental results show that performance is better when it is charged with 90 grams of hydrocarbon refrigerant instead of 150 grams R-134a. It is found that pull down rate of temperature is improved; refrigeration capacity increases significantly with lower freezer temperature. Power consumption is saved by 4.4% and refrigerant charge is reduced by 40%. From our study, to replace R-134a with a hydrocarbon refrigerant is expected to be a good alternative either from environmental protection or refrigeration performance perspective. |
