In a semiconductor fab, the equipment failure has long been recognized as a major source of equipment downtime and unpredicted production process breakdown. For that reason, equipment maintenance management is one of the important tasks in semiconductor manufacturing. Due to the ubiquity of Internet and the prosperity of information technologies, the remote diagnostics and maintenance and monitoring through Internet have been an important application in the semiconductor industry. With Internet, it enables the e-Manufacturing operations to integrate e-Diagnostics and e-Maintenance in the semiconductor fab. Recently, e-Diagnostics and e-Maintenance have continued to become the major research fields in semiconductor manufacturing. They can easily enable the integration of maintenance management, and create the higher value of equipment in its life cycle. Web Services can assist maintenance engineers to perform their tasks faster and integrate maintenance functions. In 1998, the concept of Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR) was proposed by Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Standards (VICS) to establish the collaborative management for supply chains. In this thesis, a Web Service based CPFR platform is developed to manage spare parts in semiconductor equipment between semiconductor manufacturers and equipment makers. The global application involving multiple factories and multiple suppliers of this CPFR platform can be easily achieved through web services.
