By means of tie-ins with consumer goods, films can appeal to consumers who are not exposed to traditional movie trailers. — Jan Kean, domestic marketing manager of Orion Pictures This thesis focuses on researching the global promotion strategy of Hollywood cinemas and its impact on Taiwanese movie markets. Furthermore, the research also emphasizes on the influence of Hollywood cinemas to the tie-in model of Taiwanese merchandise. Two case studies of the movie Lord of the Ring III and The Incredibles are presented to address and analyze the related tie-in models and marketing promotional activities made during the period of release.
